KABUL: The former Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Sunday has blamed US forces for helping the militant Islamic State group in Afghanistan, media reports.
This he said in an exclusive interview with ‘Russia Today’ in London that IS is not only supplied with arms but also uses US bases in Afghanistan.
Asked whether he had suspicions that US bases were being used to aid the IS, he said: “I have more than suspicions.” he said.
Karzia wonderd, ‘How unmarked non-military colour helicopters supply these people, not only in one part of the country but in many regions,” adding that it is a daily occurrence,”
Hamid Karzai stressed that Afghan extremism had grown stronger since the 9/11 terror attack, despite spending billions of dollars in the “war against terror”.
“We don’t want our country to be bombed with huge, destructive weapons. We want peace.
Karzai claimed the motive behind the MOAB (mother of all bombs) dropping in Afghanistan was not to defeat terrorists, but was meant to show to North Korea the US might. Whatever the US portrays it, it was an atrocity on the Afghan people.
The former President said the US needs to become a cooperative partner in the region, including with China, Russia, Pakistan and India, to bring peace.
With regards to Pakistan, Karzai said they have to live together with Pakistan. He said there are two strong contrasts in their relationship with Pakistan: “Pakistani people welcomed us when we became refugees. But their to Mujahideen (against Soviets) weakened our society.
