UIPM highlights message of tolerance among religions at Pre-Parliament event
Speaking on the occasion, Canadian diplomat, James Clark, pointed out that they have been working on interfaith harmony and human rights throughout the month and their programme focused on entire Pakistan. “We are quite happy that a Pre-Parliament of World Religions event has been organised in Pakistan to portray the characteristics of the upcoming Parliament of World Religions due to be held in Canada. Promotion of interfaith harmony is need of the hour,” he said.

James Clarke also lauded the message delivered by Dr GR Chishti that followers of both Islam and Christianity should study the holy scriptures of each other. He also appreciated the message portrayed in the tableau about love of neighbour. In the end he congratulated Universal Interfaith Peace Mission for holding a successful event.

Earlier in his key-note address, UIPM Chairman Dr Allama GR Chishti said that he took the inspiration of holding a Pre-Parliament of World Religions event in Islamabad after attending an interfaith meeting sponsored by UN Habitat with the partnership of Parliament of World Religions, in Singapore last month. As part of Pre-Parliament event we have organized ‘Meelad-un-Nabiyyain’.

He said we organized third ‘Meelad-un-Nabiyyain’ — the birth of the two prophets of Allah Almighty i.e. ‘Meelad-e-Mustafa’ and Christmas during past three years, both these event have been coinciding in December and UIPM has been celebrating them, as we believe that it is a divine sign of Almighty Allah to make the followers of the two great religions come together. “Our message is also the essence of Parliament of World Religion which is promotion of interfaith harmony, therefore we have dedicated this sacred programme to PPOWR which has been working for promotion of interfaith harmony since 1893,” he added.

He also highlighted in detail the purpose of forthcoming ‘Parliament of the World Religions’, which is going to be held from 1-7 November in Toronto, Canada.
