Islamabad: Hundreds of doctors, lawyers, members of civil society and Yemeni community stationed in Islamabad staged a protest rally against United Nations recent report regarding Yemen in front of Islamabad press club on Wednesday. The protest rally condemned the recent UN report on the armed conflict in Yemen and the international organization’s attempt to make the Saudi Arabia-led Islamic military Alliance controversial.
The protester were carrying banners and play cards claiming that King Salman bin Abdul Aziz is the protectorof Yemani kids rather Houthis terrorists are the killers of innocent Yemenis people including woman, kids and old ones. The protester said the decision of black listing Saudi Arabia is unacceptable. The protests demanded United Nations to draw attention to the crimes committed by the Houthis against civilians in Yemen.
Addressing the protest rally the Yemeni activist Abdul Rehman Salhi harshly condemned the United Nations decision and blamed that United Nations has double standard regarding the Yemen. He said Houthi Terrorists killed innocent civilians and destroyed the infrastructure of the government. He said the Saudi Arabia-led Islamic military Alliance is a legitimate forum and they intervened in Yemen on the request of Yemen President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
He explained that how the Houthis rebels entered the Yemeni cities killed the people and broke the social security and stands behind many of the tragedies suffered by the Yemeni people, they dropped the popular government led by Yemen President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
Raja Zafar Iqbal the representative of civil society in Islamabad said the UN report ignored the great support provided by the King Salman Center for children and war affected people in Yemen, they also ignored the massacres committed by the Houthis rebels against local people in yemen. Raja Zafar Iqbal said by issuing such report the United Nations has lost credibility especially as it stands silent on what is happening against the innocent in both Palestine and Myanmar.
Dr. Mujahid Jilani, president of the Medical association in Islamabad, said that the UN report on Yemen is a fully hypocritical report, ignoring the heinous crimes committed by the Houthis terrorists against civilians in Yemen and focusing selectively on criticizing the Arab alliance. He added that the whole world knows the humanitarian positions that Saudi Arabia stands with the Muslim peoples, especially the Yemeni people, for its support against terrorism and the massacres committed by the Huthi rebels.
He expressed his deep reservations about the report, pointing out that this report will strengthen the narrative of the terrorist organizations in Yemen and will increase the complexities faced by the Yemeni people and will increase the threats to the land of the Holy Land, and this will stir the feelings of Muslims around the world.
